i thought I had read that when you floor it, the AC turns off to maximize power to the engine?

No idea where... maybe just wishful thinking, but I'm pretty sure I saw it someplace in regards to Minis.

i really like my auto a/c. My previous car was an audi a6, and that came with the same. i pretty much take it for granted, but i'm not against turning a **** or anything. it's a $300 convenience charge. if you think it's worth it, then get it.

i live in florida and still drive most* of the time with the a/c off, windows down...

I tend to prefer manual controls, few bells and whistles, and no packages...but that's just me. Needless to say, I'll be skipping auto AC. However, if I had an addiction similar to Skuzzy's, yeah, I'd get it.

Thank you for your support. It r appreciated. I probably need a 12 step program.

"Hello, my name is Skuzzy. And I am addicted to automatic AC. I have not been able to go 24 hours without it!".

I have the auto ac in my 2003 MCS and it is the reason why we chose the standard controls for my wife's 2006 Cooper.

I am always having to figure out how to trick the auto ac into doing what I want it to do. It is just so much easier to deal with straight forward ***** than lots of little stupid buttons.

Your $300 is better spent on 120 gallons of high octane.

Well in rainy Seattle automatic air means little. My 03 automatic runs all the time whether it's 40 or 70. Perhaps in Texas or Arizona it's a good option.
