Mini Concord is amazing! That's where we got our MCS - great service, great price

Niello (Sacramento) sells at MSRP. but they also add on mandatory accessory paks to dealer stock and mark up the accessories 300-500%. And their attitude is kinda sucky; I know folks that have rejected them and taken the drive to East Bay for better service and no BS. But then there are folks that like Niello so it goes either way.

MINI of San Francisco, anyone ?

Hi guys,
I am new here and thinking about getting an MCS. The closest dealer is Mini of SAn Fran. Anybody has been there ? Do they sell at MSRP for a customized Mini ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Call them and see. Im sure others will want to know. My guess is that they are a "market adjustment" dealer and they will have some kind of markup.

But then Concord used to "market adjust," and maybe they did away with this to better compete with East Bay.

Nice thing about the Bay Area: you have choices. Welcome to NAM

I can confirm that Mini of Concord does indeed no longer have a markup. They sell at MSRP.

I originally ordered a car in January from East Bay Mini, and they first told me that my car would be ordered in March for an April delivery... and then as March rolls around, I call to ask for an update... and my MA doesn't even remember who I am, and can't even find my order. Then he e-mails me a few days later and tells me that my car will be delivered in July now...

So... I pulled my deposit from East Bay, and went over to Concord - willing to pay a markup - and was surprised that they no longer charge it. Plus, they gave me an order number on the same day! No more waiting!

Bottomline: If you want a MINI at MSRP, you want GREAT service, and you don't want to be treated like a number, go to MINI of CONCORD... forget about EBM.

That's a shame about your experiance with EBM. I put my deposit down last year (July I think) and the MA called me in December about ordering, but when I told him I wanted SAT/NAV he said to order when it's available. He called me in February and we ordered my MINI then for April delivery. I have seen him only twice and although I don't think he remembered my name the second time I talked to him, he acted like he remembered my face. So I have to say that I've been pleased so far, maybe not overwelmed, but it's been good. He's also been reasonably prompt with answering my email questions.

Mini of Mt. View sold me my MCS for $500 above but they did a ton of work to get me my unique Mini (I didn't want to wait months for it to be built). I told them the specifics I wanted (color, option, etc) and they found one car in all of the western US that matched my specs (& I didn’t have to order it!). The swapped it for another car they had at the VDC... Russ was my sales guy and was very easy to work with – totally hassle free. Highly recommended.

I think Mini of SF charges more than $2000 mark up.

You all need to take a trip east where dealers are flush with Mini's! They are discounting but very quiet about it.

Jeff at Mountain View told me they have a $1,500 markup, and that Long Beach and Concord do not. He said that the wait was longer at Concord & Long Beach.

I paid the $1,500 and ordered on 3/12. Estimated delivery is supposed to be in early May. Online order tracking shows it still as "On Order."

Anyone purchase from Long Beach or Concord lately? How does your estimated delivery compare? Did you get into the dealer's current month allotment, or for a subsequent month?

I ordered just a couple days after you on 3/14 from Concord without a markup. It's a week 15 build - April allotment... estimated delivery is late May-early June... but ASK MINI says that it should be there before June.

Looks like I'm a month ahead of you. ASK MINI says mine will go into production next week and should be delivered the first week of May. That's assuming all goes well with shipping etc.

Addition: $1,500 is a lot to pay for one month. Probably would have waited, but I wanted to buy from the closest dealer to me.

Jeff/Russ/other guy (they all work together) will negotiate on the markup - I paid $500 but felt it was fair given the extra work they put in to find my car. For those ordering make sure you have the dealer search for your specs first - there may be a car out there already built with little or no wait.

Did any of you have to deal with a documentation fee, a license plate fee, and a tire fee? The misc. fees at Assael added up to roughly $100 extra (atop of the MSRP & destination).

Not a whole lot and for the most part sounds reasonable - but I wonder, did you guys get similar charges going into other dealers or even Assael?

Yup, there's the tire blah fee, the blah blah fee, sales tax, etc. All outside the dealers control.

I can just imagine the scene as the motoring advisor honestly discloses the various markups:

Here's the $500 "sucker born every minute" markup.

And this here is the $500 "a fool and his money" markup.

This here is the $750 "some of the people all of the time" markup.

And don't forget the $1000 "you'll respect me for being so honest about this" markup.
