Love the white "HID" type front running/parking lights. What are they, and where from (if you don't mind me asking)?

Thanks

Sabastian,

Your Oscar is almost exactly what I almost got down to the English Oak. Went MB instead of BRG and didn't feel that the Oak was as appropriate for that mix. Oscar is damn handsome though!

Meet Black Kate. I have more pictures on my iPhone, but they aren't in the computer yet. Not sure how to upload full sized images, but for more you can go to http://picasaweb.google.com/Dan.Brackmann/BlackKate#

They're LEDs. They won't work properly without a resistor in parallel with them, which makes install less than plug-and-play, so we haven't offered them for sale. They'd sell for probably $45 a set with the resistor packs and hardware. Interested?

I assume the resistor is just to keep the electronic management happy. had the same issue when i replaced the rear foggys with LED's. they worked but the computer kept bonging away until chucked a resistive load to match the original lamp resistance.

I would be interested... I'm not that great with the electrical stuff so if you can make it pretty much plug and play you can count me in!!

Could you please give me a write up or some pictures for me about how you install the resistor? As well as info about the resistor I try to get the right one but I am not very good at ele...

Thank you,

Not to hijack the thread, but this site has many with the resistor already built in and the prices are quite reasonable. I have ordered from them before many years ago and was pleased with the products.

Hmm, they just say they have current limiting resistors to protect from polarity incorrect installation... is there a special page for the ones you're talking about or would that be them? You ordered them many years ago, which probably means the car you put them in didn't have the electronic magnet sensors...? if these work, that'd be a great and easier alternative, but I am not too sure they will..

r56bb.. search through the electrical forum, I've posted about finding the correct resistor. It depends on your specific led bulb and how much current it draws along with its voltage etc.

That's not what I'm talking about. If the bulb you are swapping in does not have similar electrical resistance to the bulb you're taking out, you'll have several problems, including flickering of the LED bulbs when they're supposed to be off, "Bulb Out" dashboard warnings, and some other strange behavior. So you have to wire in a resistance load for everything to work right.

2001 530i...never had problems but Im assuming technology has changed...Im not interested in putting them in the Mini, so I really dont care. Just giving people another outlet to explore and you can email the site with specifics you need....

Back to our regularly scheduled R56 picture thread....

Are the LEDs bright enough? I've been looking at the PIAA Xtreme White W5W bulds...no resistor required...or would these be too bright? (I'm not hijacking, 'cause I'll post pics of my new lights once I get them sorted; I'll shoot them from the ground up, so you won't even tell it's a Clubman S )

Wow I really like them!

Its sad & upsetting that BMW/MINI does not offer Recaro seats on MINIs bound for the USA.
