Oh Crap. Really, that is blow to whole credibility of the complaint. Makes me sad, because I feel manipulated as well.

Dave, I want to ask you to review my account because I was very vocal at the outset and I want to be cleared of any of that shenanigans.

I have shared information to the MINI2 moderators in that forum. They should be reviewing it on their end as well now.

Thanks dave.

It still leaves a real issue, and I hope this fool doesn't cause issues with MINI's solution. I have confidence in MINIUSA taking care of it, whether that means a discount or a new wheel.

Found out for sure that my week 5 production car does not have the MFSW.

I went ahead and reordered and it appears I am only two weeks behind (week 7 production). So not too bad.

My original week 5 car is on the boat as we speak...bummer!

Good to see you on NAM. It's been a long time. Sorry to hear you're order was one of the ones involved.

Looks like both you are getting R56's. I'm holding off for the R55.

I kind of miss those pathfinding days back in 2002/2003 with you two back in Denver. Good times.

We tried to convince you that Denver was the place for you, but hey, what do we know. Of course, after three feet of snow my California roots are calling.....

Yeah - I still get nostalgic looking at some of the how-tos that dave and you shot in my house garage!

I hope to get that same feeling from the new car too (and ficcion can still come over )!

Finally, some clear information

I called my MA today--he never calls me--and found that my car is being built anew. Starting from scratch is clearly the best way to go. As some forum posters have noted, pulling a car apart as a retrofit would require, is highly likely to lead to future noises or gremlins.

The down side is the wait. He estimated an early May delivery. That seems too long based on the initial delivery date that I was given, but at least I should eventually end up with the car I wanted. Heck, Mini or the deal may even do a little something for me to assuage my grief for the loss of my first car.

We'll see,

Joe S

As of yesterday MINI still had no idea what they were going to do about my car arriving, according to them, at the dealer this week. They mentioned that 2/3 had re-ordered already. This experience is spoiling my excitement for MINI a bit.

My 2007 MC (built w/o the MFSW I ordered) has been sitting in NJ since Jan.10th. MY MA has never bothered to contact me about this problem and it is scheduled to arrive at the dealereship in 4 days.

I don' think they are going to offer any compensation, as most of the buyers are apparently content to just re-order and wait. I'm not.

If thier attitude is "take it or leave it", I'm leaving it. I would not do business with a company that has such contempt for its customers.

Just got off the phone with Doug, my ask-MINI contact on this, and he said the official MINI response is...... to be announced on Friday. They were semi-snowed out of the office over the past 2 days.

According to my Ask MINI guy, they are still saying only 40 people were affected in the entire US. That seems a bit low to me since I am aware of at least 10 in AZ.

Did you call? Is there some "official" word? Because I heard nothing from nobody, and I assume I'm on the list!

Just got off the phone with ASK MINI and I was told there is still no official word but he did say that retrofitting is probably going to be unlikely. And thats they will do "something" for those effected. Something tells me that they are letting this fade out. Soon the re-ordered cars will be here and then we'll stop complaining.

Like PWhite I just got off the phone also. My contact also said still no official word. Someone in his office had just come from NJ and got the "no answer yet" from the "decision makers". He did say that 40-45 were affected and 3/4 re-ordered and they were looking for something to tell last 10 like me. He said if I could wait a few more days he hoped they would have something to say Tue. or Wed.

I think pepperwhite is right on. Free mats, are cars will be here and that will probably be it. It will fade away....I've already resolved myself to this eventual outcome, so if something is different, I'll at least be pleasantly surprised.

I test drove the r56 yesterday and it was just wonderful. But it hurts a lot to know that I could have had my own in a couple of days and now I'll have to wait 4 more weeks.

I'm totally not buying the line from Mini that only about 40 cars were effected. My dealer told me that 8 cars were built without the mfsw just for their customers and all 8 customers have re-ordered. Imagine what the # could be for all US dealers combined?

And just like us, dealers are also trying to negotiate some solution with Mini as they don't want to be stuck with cars that no one wants to buy because of the lack of cruise.

Its hard to know what the number represents. There was the number of cars ordered incorrectly - which likely was very high, and on most the order were corrected before they were built. There were the number that were built incorrectly, some of which were re-ordered and some were not. And there is the number that were built in correctly and were not reordered.

Which one of those numbers is "40"? FWIW I know there were at least two at my dealer.

Well, anyway there is still no official word. I don't know what they are going to ask me to pay for, hence I'm not even sure what my car will cost, and hence how I will feel about it, and whether or not we will be able to close the deal in the end. Its kind of absurd, but I suppose you would have to be in our shoes to appreciate it.

Anyway, I can always re-order, and wait again. I'm getting good at it.

Last Friday when they said no official word yet they said probably by this Tues. or Wed. I called today and Doug said no official word yet. He said they had a meeting where he was told "they are looking into a possible retro-fit". Duh! At least he thought that was as useless as I did. He didn't have any information on the slowness of cars out of NJ either.
