Yes, thank you, Krut. I originally had gone with cloth but switched to the leatherette sight unseen. I have cloth on my current MC and wanted a change. But your post made me very happy that I did. Cheers!

After reading this thread, I also changed cloth to leatherette.

Ok, an update. My dealer got in the giant sample book. You know, the one that is the thickness of a few dictionaries... In person, the checkered cloth is really classy. The checkered pattern, as mentioned before, is a weaver with metallic thread, and is just subtle enough. The leatherette is not like the pictures on the configurator at all. The difference between the center portion of the seat and side bolsters will be minimal, as they are both shades of dark grey. The center portion looks like leather, while the side bolsters had a "mesh-like" pattern that differentiates it. Overall, the materials and textures create a nice, sporty feel, while still achieving the high-class look of leather.

Thanks for that. I am feeling better about my choice of leatherette all the time.

I am going with cloth... it looks REALLY nice. I saw the leatherette and too me it looks kinda cheap... I think I almost liked the old leatherette better...

I don't understand all the fuss about cloth.. I liked the leatherette, but I loved the cloth as well.

The cloth has a great pattern in the sunlight!

I originally had checker cloth on my order, but after seeing it at the auto show, the pattern was actually very subtle, too subtle I thought. I also wasn't fond of the cloth texture, just my personal preference. When I drove the demo R56, it had the 2-tone leatherette, and I said "Wow!" when I saw and felt it. Very nice, but subtle gray and black, I thought it was quite sporty looking, and the material texture felt great to me, so I switched my order to that. I don't think that any of the MINI upholsteries look cheap, but the textures and styles will suit the tastes of each person.

I prefer the cloth because it's a subtle check pattern for that visual relief, and has a great feel. It looks like it should hold up real well to wear.

The leatherette is a nice two toned pattern, but a little too plain for my taste
