Looks like there's no accessory drink holder for the R56. At least not yet. So we're gonna be stuck with the two wee ones in front of the shifter and the larger one at the back. Any sightings of something different out there?
you do know every other country in the world looks at us funny when we say something like this, right?
eating and drinking while driving is a no no. there is no need for a cupholder in a car.
What he said. For example, it wasn't until very recently AG Porsche allowed ANY cupholder into their cars. A real driver never allows such luxaries to get away from paying attention to the road. I'd be thankful the car comes with a radio.
I got another ash tray to fill the extra hole in my dash that they call a cupholder. this way, people never notice the one in the back, so they cant bring any liquid into the car.
The only reason i havent used up the rear cupholder yet is just in case i do have to carry something, its there as a backup. plus putting it in an akward place prevents me from trying to take a sip whie driving.
The problem with the 1st gen is that the front cupholders don't have much free space above them -- the center stack is in the way. So while a canned beverage or small coffee fits, a bottle of water won't. It looks like that's been remedied. I'll live.

i've put several bottles of Pepsi in the passenger side one, though our bottles are slightly taller than the ones you have in the US. with the gearstick in neutral, i could tap the bottle lid easily with my fingers.
That ugly thing stuck on the down tube should surely not be missed.
Yes, I have a beverage when driving, but hate that albatross in the car.
Unfortunately, "she" likes it...

You aren't kidding! Unfortunately I've got one on my Mini Cooper, but when I had the carbon fiber down tubes installed on my JCW MCSC I warned the service department to not even THINK about putting that item back on! The "down tube" drink holder is a crime against humanity (just my humble opinion)!
I commute 45 minutes each way so need the caffeine!
I feed my caffeine addiction with this cupholder 10 minutes before I hit the road. We've got 5 cars and NONE of them has a cupholder. In fact only 2 have ashtrays.
1948 Chevy 1/2 ton

1972 BMW 2002 (has ashtray)
1980 Triumph Spitfire (has ashtray)
2000 BMW Z3
We do use the cargo net in the Z3 to hold various libations in bottles with lids. We've already bought an IPod caddy to fit the cupholder on our upcoming Mini. Will have to consider the second one for holding pens and highlighters for rallys! Rear one may hold our solution to the $2000 Nav system:
Oh yeah, and just say no to drive-thrus. Take out makes you fatter. 48oz drinks will someday be challenged like cigarettes as a marketing inspired threat to our national health. Don't take my word for it. Watch Supersize Me and pay close attention to the drive-thru scene where he inadvertenltly passes out and goes bolemic all in one fine dining experience.
