PFM - Power Folding Mirrors

Just out of curiosity - why are people choosing this option on their MINI - I live in Capitol Hill (Washington DC) so every once in a while someone will leave me a tight fit to get out of my alley and I have to fold up my mirrors - but honestly it's not like I REALLY need it..... :-)

It's cool in the way it works too.

I went for it because it's much better than having your mirrors damaged in tight parking spaces. Generally cars in the UK are smaller that the US and so are the parking spaces. Supermarket carparks are the most likely area for these.

the problem with the PFM ...

... is if you want heated seats.. you have to spend $270 for the heated seats and then an additional $300 for the PFM.

Also, since they're now available for the 07 Cooper and Cooper S Convertibles - I'm sure you could retrofit it to previous years models.

It only necessary in Japan where the parking and negotiating narrow alleys can sometimes literally mean a broken mirror or folded mirror...Here, it's just for novalty...When I used to get a right hand drive Japanese car from work, it's fun to fold them in/out while stopped at the traffic light looking like a "Dumbo" impression...Kinda expensive for a cheap thrill in the States where the traffic obstructions are made for Semis...

Our Audis all have the power folding mirrors...

Living in Georgetown (for you DC people), i think it's a MUST to fold your mirrors when street parking there -- given the narrow streets...I always have to manually fold them on my MCS.

I learned the hard way, unfortunately, with my last car. I'd definitely be in line for these if I were ordering an R56..

I really dont think they will be avaliabe on the 07 convertables. I think they didnt change over some of the r56 specific options on the convertable configurator. The also list the union jack and checkerboard door handle caps for the convertable, which as far as i know, will not be avaliable for the r50,52 and 53's.
