Wood Steering Wheel?

I really can't decide if I like the wood steering wheel or not? Combined w/ the oak dash and such it looks good...but don't know if it fits w/ the rest of the car or not? I'm not ordering leather either... just don't want to drop the $1k on it ya know?

Would rather get LSD and sport + suspension

Welcome to NAM, JohnBLZ. Yes, I've been eyeing the oak trim pieces myself. They would look great say with pepper white or maybe one of the silvers...assuming that classic look was what one wanted. The new white interior trim options could support oak trim, too, I suppose. I was surprised (but then not surprised) that you had to get a three-spoke MFSW to get oak trim, so it's not offered on the two-spoke.

I probably won't go the oak trim route myself since I just found out the MINI color I was considering isn't even coming to NA. But since I have no need/interest in LSD or sport suspension, I'll just have to pocket my hard earned cash instead of giving it to BMW.

I'd like to see some good quality images of the wood wheel and dash if anyone has them.

I love the look of the wood dash, but the wood wheel just doesn't do it for me. Unless it is going to be old-school... 2 circles of wood sandwiched on a piece of metal w/ screws and about an inch of varnish (borrowed from an old MG-TD, for instance) I can't do it.

My wife has 1/4 of the wheel on her Cadillac in wood and I hate the feel of it... the varnish is too slick... esp. when compared to the leather covering the other 3/4 of the wheel.

IMHO: Get the dash, forget the wheel.

PS: There is also a nice wood shift ****, but the Whalen Shift Machine is such an exceptional product that I couldn't ever consider anything else.

This is all I've seen.....from MINI2. I also believe the door trim may be involved. It's in the new configurator, too.

I've got the wood dash on my '06 Mini Cooper. As gokartride had suggested, it really does go VERY well with a pepper white mini. I'm planning on putting the carbon fiber JCW dash on my S convertible, but for my Cooper I wanted a very traditional look. I think it's great, but that's just my preference. By the way, I also had the chromeline accents installed with the wood...it is VERY cool!
