R56 R56 on the road UK
The tape over the Mini emblem is funny
As if you are going to mistake it for something else
Of course I reserve any final take on a car 's design until I see and sit in it - in this pic I am struck again with how the bonnet holes for the headlights gives it that extra Orphan Annie cartoon look. A little wall-eyed goggley stare - some might say even more "cute" then before.
Nice photo, thanks!

I like how simple and clean the bonnet looks w/o the upper vents...in this shot I really like it!!! It's funny how many pics we've seen and it is still so hard to get a final read on R56 vs R50/53 proportions. Every pic is "just a bit off" to get a direct comparison....and it's not that we haven't tried!!! This is probably good if the if differences are indeed that unapparent. I do hope MINIUSA does a road tour like they did w/ the cabrio so we can see R56 in person.

You know, with the MINI emblem covered I almost mistook it for a R50/53!
The bonnet has much cleaner lines than before. Looks nice (though I confess that the R50/53 bonnet / grill area was one of the factors that made that model appealing to me). Yes, it still looks "cute", just in a slightly different manner!
The great thing is that it is ALL MINI... No denying it's bloodline!
Nice pic. Thanks for sharing!

You know, it struck me when I was out driving today (well nothing really struck me, knock on wood
) - after seeing this photo I noticed a much closer resemblance to another car on the road. The wider set more sloping headlamps, bonnet with less curves and no air intakes....
The photo I grabbed above is not the same exact angle for the best comparo, but when I saw it driving today the 'expression' of the two cars really seemd rather alike whereas I didn't get that impression with the R53's more upright straight ahead facing lamps and more complex hood before.
Hehe

With a body color roof and mirrors, that might not be bad.
Although the blue wouldn't look good next to my wife's PG/B.

(Yes, that does figure into it...)

What's up with that? Care to make a statement to the press and paparazzi?
Seriously though, it is a shame that the color blue is limited to only ONE choice on the R56 Cooper, that being the elusive and mysterious - Oxygen Blue...
So tell me, why haven't we still not seen a MINI (R56) in this most clandestine of colours???
German government secret?
I'm smelling conspiracy theory here...
THAT'S IT!!!!

Seriously, my defection to the Chili Red side of life is 1) the recommendation of a good friend and, 2) frustration driven.
I want options
. The MCS-only Electric Blue/Laser Blue range of colors represents one of my all-time favorite classic Mini shades. And we all know Oxygen Blue is top-secret classified....and is likely to be something altogether different. So, as a Cooper owner, right now I'm thrice screwed.
Chili Red offers some hope....and the interior options would make it an attractive change of pace.

...I have shifted strongly towards the White over Dark Silver. Plus it makes that Redwood Red interior look dead sexy! I actually hope it looks even MORE orange in person (as I've heard it does).
