I dont know what you mean by this but invoice is what the dealer pays included the destination charges ( shipping ) which is not retail pricing or dealers wouldnt make a dime.

I did pay cost plus a nickle for shipping since i work for MINI.

so thats means a 05 base MINI s which sells for $20,950 was only $18,950 to me.

Ordered in early 06 and waiting for an 07 build due late in the year. Pity about the supercharger, but at least the engine will be 21st century. About French cars, my last car was a 160hp 2litre PUG 306 and it was a rocket. Renault and Peugeot/Citroen are the success stories of European manufacturing and mores the pity they aren't in the US, along with Alfa, as they build great small cars.
Any input Peugeot have will be well worth it.

Here is something that I found just poking through the web....
http://www.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/d...1103281940.pdf
This is the Engine that is going to reportedly be in the 2007.

Also The MINI Traveller concept vehicle will appear on a stretched wheelbase version of the MINI - possibly in 2008 or 2009. I for one don't like the Concept MINI that much.

That was released in late 2004 by BMW and PSA. You can find an html version of the long release here:

the MCS will have 170hp
(and probably a lot more torque - although they mysteriously shy about posting torque figures for the '07 MCS)

Well, according to that pdf file, the tuba kicks in at 1,400RPM's....so the MINI should be one hell of fun ride!

I'd just like to wait and see what either MINI and/or aftermarket groups do in the following year or 2 after the '07 introduction to *really* take advantage of that new engine and turbo. It seems like they're being a bit hesitant / conservative on pushing it (I some past readings I've heard that they were running into blown heads and limitations of the aluminum block?? but what do i know..)

Anyway.. it'll be interesting to see what MINI does with the engine on the mid-model refresh. (200hp... awd... ??)

I just hope the traveller has the Turbo and they keep it fun with the acceleration we get with out MINI's now. I still wish we would see the diesel in the US too in the future, that would get the high MPG.

I am currently in the market for a MINI Cooper S. What I was not aware though, was that the Chrysler designed Tritec was only a 2-valve engine. That's not going to work for me. The new 2007 MINI with the BMW/Peugeot-Citroen 4-valve turbocharged engine should be much better. My plans for a new Cooper S are now, officially on hold! I'll be waiting and saving for the NEW Cooper S.

Great site!

Wrong – it's a four valve

I heard rumors that MINI has been having trouble with the turbo 2007 engines blowing up. Does anyone have info other than rumor?

My wife and I went down to the closest MINI dealer we have close by and I test drove a MCS and I fell in love......I love small good habdling cars with good power range and I decided this will be my next car to purchase, I still have 6 months left on the lease of my current car so in the mean time I've been researching on the 07 MCS (Turbo) and now I dont know what to do if I should wait for it or get the 06 MCS that I builded at the dealer........
What do you guy's think?
Should I wait for the 07 or get the last production batch of 06 moels?

I' afraid BMW rasing the price of the car! I hope not and if so then not by much.

If you want to order an a-la-carte specced '06 MCS, then I wouldn't wait 6 months. By then, there's a good chance you'll be left purchasing what dealers have left on their lots. The '07 MINIs are supposedly arriving Stateside around Jan-Feb '07.....and I would hazard a guess that there will be a price hike.

Dealer told me
$1,500 price hike on S.

Frankly, I would expect 3 - 8 mpg increase based on engine design. That may factor in.

I heard similar. I would expect MINI to increase the price of the S in particular, but the standard Cooper will probably remain similarly priced. I would imagine that BMW is hoping to create a better balance between the two models in the US (where sales of the S are about 70% of total sales).

Also, BMW has not been terribly enthusiastic about the lower profit margin on the MINI (particularly compared to the rest of their model range) and will most likely be reducing cost and increasing price to widen that margin. With an all-new model they have the opportunity to raise the bar a bit (since obviously demand is outstripping supply!)

We shall see...
