I was looking a little bit ago for battery cables, they look expensive for OEM. Do you have any suggestions? Also it looks like they run up over to the front of the engine to attach to the alternator all in one connected mess. Going to probably be a day project!
You clearly had both a bad starter and a bad ground strap. You could start by thoroughly cleaning the ground strap contact points and the corresponding OEM block and chassis contact points and hope for the best.
Is this even where I am meant to mount the ground strap? I believe when we reassembled the car the first time it was mounted to the next slot towards the camera… that leads nowhere though.
You have a 2009 N14, and I have a 2012 N16, so I don't know if this picture of my N16 ground strap will help you. --> Chassis to engine mount connections

Yep, that’s where mine goes as well, nice stud chilling there wide open…I’ll move it there tomorrow.
It’s running now but still has issues. Going to start a new thread about it tomorrow, stay tuned lol… has a vacuum leak I was working on before this all started.
thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! For the help the negative/ground jump to the block was the ticket!
