Steer arms fitting grease

There is recommended grease for steer arm before covering how much extra grease should be added?

when the cover is fit does the SS clamp close with force applied?
if I test that I may not get on but assuming force applied around clamp?

This is the stuff officially recommended by BMW:

You might be able to find something comparable.

This guys did this on a VW, seems since they share the same suppliers from ZF it should be the same.

You need a special tool to clamp those stainless retainers. I used zip ties, and 6 years later, they are still holding.

That vid from a VW seemed to miss that the rubber gaiter does not fit onto steer cover first one I got too hot trying to do in place with heat gun.
second one I heated slower whilst pulling it expanding the dimension of the bigger end to get to fit on the rack!
but was needed quite a bit of pulling & grease to get on the rack, go figure.

The rubber boot from Mini fit better did not need excessive stretching so on just warm up.
