Does anybody have experience with replacing a steering wheel airbag? Mine just blew (very mild collision, nobody hurt) and I was going to swap it out. Does the airbag controller need to be replaced? Is there a dealership reprogramming needed? Can I reset it with a Foxwell NT-510 scanner?

Wow! Thanks. Just disconnect the battery, pop it out, disconnect it, connect up the new one, pop it back in place, and reconnect the battery.

No brain box reset or anything.

Yep, but you might have codes that say the airbag deployed. If the modules/sensors on the body are damaged from the crash/ locked out, you may have issues with the system not deploying again.

You can reset the airbag light with the schwaben tool, but if the system says their is a permeant fault from crash, nothing can be done except dealer level and making sure those sensors for the airbag system are ok.

I would just have them scan it at the MINI dealer and make sure the system still functions, not worth the risk.
