Vent Air weak

Running into a issue. I feel that myt blower is weak. With A/c on in this amazing 100+ temps right now i have to close the passenger vents in order to stay cool. There is no way otherwise i will be cool. The air coming out of the dash center vent is strong but that does me no good at all. AC is serviced up good just feel that the amount of air coming out of the vents should be able to move my wifes hair when she rides in the car and it barely reaches her. any ideas. New cabin filer and cavity has been fully cleaned and detailed.

Do you have a scan tool? You can connect one to the OBDII port and look at blend air door and mode door positions with something like a Foxwell NT530 or their newer i50 series tools. I had a similar issue several years ago with my wife's '07 Cooper. The blend air door was not closing all the way and some air was passing through the heater core and hot air was mixing with the cold air. I have some Foxwell i50TS tools listed on Ebay; they were leftover samples from the 2022 SEMA show.

Is your air recirculation button depressed and the LED is lit? If your recirc button is off, you're pulling outside air in, and the airflow is slightly decreased.

MINIs also have an evaporator temperature sensor, so you can pull that up with a scan tool and see what the evaporator temp is with the AC on. In a properly functioning system, the Evap temp should be 35-40 degrees.

Week fan blower, i guess change out the motor. Do you have the fan speed all the way up, only other thing is the resistor and its usally related to one of the fan speeds not working? Had another person just post up they blower was going bad due to the use. Its been pretty hot and a/c is on most of the time here, so my guess is that the motors are getting a work out this year.

Also use the recirc as it will not pull outside air, people do this in vegas all the time.

One fan does heat and cold.

When the system is charged it should be blowing cold. You can have a measure the temps at the vent.

Here's my post from a few years ago.

I wonder how many amps your fan motor is pulling when it's on high.

Thanks

My issue isnt that the ac isnt cold it is that it seems the flow is coming out the center dash vent behind the speedo than it is the main vents. Thus not cooling the front seats of the car. if it is 108 like yesterday i have to close the passenger side and im still pretty hot not even comfortable. If i was trying to loose weight it would be great haha but it is just flippin hot. im about to give up on it and turn my go kart into a doorless wish i was a jeep for max airflow.

Yes I normally will run it on recirculation after the air blows all of the hot out so that it recirculates the cool air. I have a co worker with a r56 as well going to go out and check his air flow to see if it is the same or more than mine. looks like it might be a weak blower if it is different

After going out to his car and feeling his airflow. his airflow is about double to triple the cfm compared to mine. If i had his airflow i would be freezing.

So the blower is weak. Nice to have an R56 to compare.

Question. So this could be a weak blower motor that is going out yes true. However could it be a bad resistor not allowing it to go to full speed?

Yep bearings go bad and only last for so long when fixed. Then they squeal again at low speeds, this happened on my old R56 2007. Lucky we have the bremmen parts low cost option in stock.
