Non S Motor Into An S

Long story short, two twenty year olds. His S Clubman manual blew the motor. Her non S hatchback manual with 52k miles T boned a guy who cut her off. Her airbags went off.

The non S is my car, and I can probably get the S Clubman for next to nothing since his folks want it gone. If it wasn't an S I assume the drivetrain would drop in and there wouldn't be electronic issues.

Is it feasible to drop the drivetrain in the S? Thanks.

That swap is going to be a nightmare...... there's going to be a lot of open connections from swapping out the (S) motor for a non (S) motor......

You have a lot of potential issues. You could use the base engine, wiring and ECU but then you would have to get the rest of the car to accept the new ECU. I would not try it.

Completely agree with previous 2 posts, no bueno. You’d need the computer emc/dcm can’t remember if transmission tcm is separate, if automatic or manual, transmissions are different in S and non S automatics, engine, intake air cleaner, exhaust manifold catalytic converter and maybe harness from under the hood, if your state has inspections that’s a whole other issue. You’d be better off just rebuilding your blown engine.

Thanks. I have the wrecked one. Her friend has the blown engine one. I will have to let it go unless a nom S pops up in the next week or two. Kid walked away from the accident. That's all that counts.
