P1105 and 2B15 codes
Hello everyone,
I'm writing about yet another problem I've been having with my Mini (2008, One, 1.4, 95hp, European spec).
The car has always (since I bought it) had an erratic idle, ranging from 700 rpms to 800 rpms when stopped at a red light.
The rpms even used to go under 700 when decelerating, when coming to a halt (it happens when the car is in neutral, it's a manual) and the car appeared to almost die and shut off, but never did, it shook a bit and then the rpms quickly went back up to 700.
Last week, the erratic idle got worse and the car started shutting off at red lights and when slowing down, it even died at the middle of an intersection.
This happened a couple of times, then everything went back to "normal".
Two days go by, then the chain starts to rattle during cold starts. It got quickly replaced, mechanic said the engine appeared to be ok with no visible damages.
When I got the car back from the mechanic, i noticed the erratic idle didn't improve and now, when using a scanning tool, the codes P1105 and 2B15 pop up.
On the internet I've been reading contrasting opinions, ranging from people saying it's an issue of the dreaded Valvetronic system and others believing it was just matter of a faulty MAP sensor.
The car drives fine but, when in second gear, there is a lack of power at low revs, as they go up, it runs smoothly. No issue when in other gears.
When the car is stopped with the engine on, it tends to shake a bit. No abnormal noises coming from the engine bay.
Before taking the car back to the mechanic and waiting two or three weeks to get a diagnosis, would anyone happen to know what the issue might be? Is it worth DIY swapping the MAP sensor and, potentially, waste some time and money?
I'll specify that I've had some issues with the Valvetronic system and I've had to replace the solenoids (also swapped the camshaft position sensors).
Hope someone may be able to help me with this weird problem.

For P1105:

P2B15 could be a throttle actuator code. One really needs access to the MINI error codes to know for sure though.
If you replace the MAP sensor that 2B15 code or the problem that causes it might cause the new MAP sensor replacement to be less that expected.
