Shaking crank pulley/ harmonic dampener destroying belts N14 R56 Mini Cooper S

I've posted about this before but since I was chatting with Derek I was inspired to post a video again of the OEM harmonic dampener/crank puller vibrating back and forth. Apparently, Derek has seen this on his cars too.

This is an engine purchased from the dealer 15k miles ago and its been doing this since it was brand new. Dealer looked at it and said it was normal. HA!

Its not just a curiosity. It slowly chews up belts from the outside as the tensioner etc vibrates as well. You can see a loose piece of the belt. All the pulleys were new as well at time of engine install...water pump, AC compressor, alternator and tensioner pulley.

I even tried an aftermarket crank pulley and it self-destructed in a few dozen miles and destroyed the belt. Luckily, I was in my driveway at the time.

Is the crank not true? I have no idea. Crank pulley is on flush and torqued to spec with Loctite.

The shaking is even more violent than the video conveys. I should measure en runout... It's gotta be out of spec.

OEM belt? It is about to break.

I know when the belt is new or been sitting, it conforms to the shape and u will see vibration for a while.
I have used belts with imprint of the manufacturer and model on the smooth side (about 3-5 inches) and that smooth surface does not interact with the fiction wheel right. It makes some tinkling noise and the fiction wheel jumps up and down. I sanded off the smooth imprint to stop the noise.
I don't remember the belt is a 6pk900 or not (where 900 is the length). Seen some 890 to 1050 belts out there are marketed for our cars. Don't know if a little difference in length would make a big difference on the tensioner or not. Maye for the belt, we need OEM.

ya I know...its about to break. I ordered another one.

If you have a new AC compressor 64529223392, like me, you need the longer belt 6PK894 which ECSTUNING claims is OEM. What you see on the car is Conti 6PK894.

I dont know what other belt option I have.

They are the OEM supplier for some belts on MINI so it will have the mark if they are OEM or have been at one time. Right now the OEM the has the contract is Dayco Italy but dependent on what size belt you get. Some times its them, sometimes they hope back to conti(continental) or gates. Now the supplier for MINI spark plugs is.... Champion France... for a long time it was NGK and before that Beru.... before that on Gen 1 MINIs it was the Bosch exclusive 4 post plug in platinum.
