R56 JCW Turbo Installation
JCW Turbo Installation
I have a 2011 JCW (R56) with the N14 engine. After I tuned the car back to stock, P1497 code came up. I went to Mini East Bay for diagnostic and they told me there was a vacuum leak in my turbo, basically my wastegate wasn't holding pressure. Mini then told me to replace the turbo which costs 4.9k so obviously, I declined lol. Now that I found another turbo I need some help as to parts I need for my turbo installation, I was told I need new gaskets, lines etc but what parts do I need specifically? Can't I use my old ones? Also if any of you have alternative fixes for my problem please let me know cause a second hand turbo + installation isnt cheap :(

Something like this is what you’ll need. It may differ depending on what turbo you have, but I’m not positive about that.
It’s not too hard of a job, just takes some time.

It's easier to change the turbo by pulling the entire manifold first --- otherwise turbo hardware is very hard to access. However, if you're on a tight budget, it can be done without the above gasket kit, just the turbo-to-manifold gasket and anything else that may be damaged. Highly recommended to replace one of the oil or coolant hoses that has a high failure rate. Check out realOEM for part numbers --- https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select
