R56 Blue Smoke
Blue Smoke
Hi Everyone. R56 is puffing smoke after sitting idle at a light. My research tells me I may need the valve guide seals replaced. The car also seems to be eating more oil than usual. Thoughts? If it is the seals, any idea on what those might cost to replace?
Thanks in advance! Kyle

the cost depends what you want to do . if just the seal the cost is about $80 on ECS tuning. However once you are doing the seals you should also do the timing chain, and maybe some idler pulley and the water pump . I did seal , timing chain kit from ECS tuning and the tensioner pulley. the part cost was about $500.

@heticor thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I don’t have the chops to do this myself. Engine work is beyond my pay grade. Is this a common issue with these? I have 130K on the vehicle. I was thinking of bringing it to the dealership or an indy shop to do the work and was wondering what I would be looking at for repair costs.
