Trying to understand our new/used 2013 R56

Hi. We recently bought our first Mini Cooper, a 2013 Cooper S. I’m trying to understand the cars appearance. I did the VIN check and have verified it’s not a JCW but it has a lot of JCW parts on it. Was the color scheme and JCW parts a factory option without it being an official JCW? Or did a previous owner accessorize this to make it similar to one? Was wondering what you could tell me about it. It has the following...

Red roof/mirrors
Red/black door panels and dash
jcw red stitched steering wheel
JCW door seals
jcw rear badge

but no JCW ground effects or seats

just trying to understand what we have here

thank you!

You can accessorize these vehicles anyway that you want. It also doesn't have the jcw front bumper, brake set-up. The previous owners probably just put what they wanted on the vehicle.

Yes, I agree you can totally accessorize these. I guess what I was wondering, was if there was any sort of JCW aesthetics or such, factory options that the first owner ordered on this car or if this was simply someone wanting to make it look similar to a JCW and added their own parts.

I think the previous owners tweaked the car to their liking

Ya my 2013 MCS has a certain number of JCW options, Including the Recaro seats and I think the brake cooling vents on the front bumper.

congratulations, 2013 musta been a pretty good year; mine has had pretty minimal problems by MINI standards, really just the cooling system leaks they all get. And I’m at 103k on the factory clutch and that’s a lot of brutal Chicago traffic miles too.

Enter your VIN at https://bimmer.work/ and you'll see what options your car was built with.

A JCW front or rear badge only really belongs on a factory JCW model or a model with a dealer installed JCW Tuning Kit
