Transmission

Hey guys I’m new here I purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper s having an issue with the manual transmission goes in gear but will not move bought car from a buddy after he treated it like crap hit a curb and tore the bumper cover off but car will not move any idea where to start to diagnose the problem

Usually if you are 100% sure the transmission is in gear and the car won’t move, the clutch is done or one of the axels has popped out of the differential. I would get the front of the car in the air and crawl underneath to see if anything is visibly out of whack.

Also, check the hydraulic line/piston attached to the transmission housing (driver's side near front of vehicle at bottom of the bell housing). This assembly compresses the clutch fork as you press the clutch pedal.
Can you smoothly engage the gear shifter into each gear, including reverse, when the clutch pedal is depressed?
