Footwell module

Spoiler

I read through all the threads of faulty footwell modules. The only thing that doesn't work on my R56 is the driving light(s). I'm told that they are controlled via the footwell module, but since everything else is working fine, is it unusual for only one system to be down from the module? It seems that most of the posts I've read indicate several systems go down when the module is bad. My driving lights aren't essential but it would be nice to have a 100% working electrical system.

The module has the ability to shut off specific circuits if it detects a short. This is likely what's happening here. You can have it scanned for error codes which can confirm this.

There's a caveat to this; if the short persists for too long it will permanently disable the circuit. Mini says the module must be replaced after the short is corrected. However, there are vendors out there with the ability to reset it.

Okay, got it. That makes sense. I'll plan on getting it rebuilt soon. Thank you!

In Canada there is a recall to check the modules for corrosion. They check it and if it's OK they place cheap plastic shield on one side. Corrosion could be your issue. We've had both our R56's checked and they were both OK though.

The driving lights aren't controlled by the footwell module. There is a small extra relay thingy usually added to the drivers side behind the kick panel.

To make them light up, you have to: activate them (led on button should be illuminated), and then they turn only on when you pull the turn stalk for passing lights.
