What bolt is this?

Hello everyone! I’m in the market for a used R56. Anyone know what bolt this is for and why it might be spray painted black?

TIA.

Not sure why those nuts would be spray painted black, but if you are referring to the three nuts in the picture they are the nuts that hold the top of the strut to the car. Directly underneath is your strut.

Holes are slightly slotted.
Spray paint lets one put them
back in the exact same place
and keep camber from changing
after changing struts or upper
strut mounts.

I think it’s the other way around.
Spray then remove then put back.
See the slight difference in location
between the washers and the
strut tower metal?
Wouldn’t look that way if sprayed after.

I agree, it's to preserve alignment when doing some suspension work. Good idea, must remember that one!
