My keyfob does not work to lock and unlock the doors unless I am on top of the car practically. What is confusing is that it is a brand new fob from Mini. I bought this because the original fob worked the same and I thought the battery was getting low. I bought my R56 JCW HT about a year ago and this has aways been an issue. I have had many Mini Coopers and they would unlock from inside my house.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

 

It could be the antenna installed in the rear view mirror. there might be some corrosion on the coil or something preventing the longer range.
