Dealer timing chain replacement kit

Hi everyone!

My 2009 r56 JCW had this kit installed at 65k miles in July of 2015. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-mini-parts/set-chain-drive-assembly/11318623601/ . The kit has 40k miles on it.

ECS tuning is stating that the kit includes the previous revision of the tensioner and further down the page states that the kit didn't include the updated chain revision. This post here seems to only be mentioning the outdated tensioner: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4521827

I trust the info about the tensioner but I'm not sure about the chain since ECS didn't mention it on the post there. Is there a way to confirm the part numbers that are/were included in this kit? Does anyone know what changed in the updated timing chain?

I'm going to be replacing valve stem seals and trying to figure out if I should consider a timing chain update while I'm there. The timing chain sounds good at the moment. I don't know how much slack it has though.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Comes with part number 11318618317-01 in the chain. 11318618317 is the part number of the newest one and it looks to have the 01 rev level on the box. So it looks to be the newest.

Thank you!! So I'm just down one version on the tensioner and have a chain with 40k miles on it. I'll have the slack tested before I get this work going.

Is there any risk you're aware of with updating a used chain from tensioner 11314609482 to 11317607551? I'm reading they are both 82mm with a different spring inside.

Welcome.

No, unless you measure the slack and its outside the allowable stretch which is back in those threads.
