Ok so I know this may not be the most popular thing but I just got a 2009 S with a blown motor. I have limited mechanical knowledge, body work skills and no welding ability. Sounds like a good mix to rebuild a car right! Well that's why "Rat Rod". That and I think they look cool. This is going to be a project with my two sons so we can learn new things. If we screw it up, oh well.

I am thinking about using just the body and dropping it on a S10 frame. Keep it rear wheel drive.
I would like to avoid electronics as mush as possible.
Motor? Cool factor is kinda more important than power.

It's always fun to teach my kids new "garage" words!

Anyway, what does everyone think? Is it a crazy idea or should I give it a shot.

That car looks pretty cool to me, except for the front end... The shape of the lights and grill don't seem to match well with the Mini body.

Mine has a full moon roof but think I am going to add a cloth slider like the old bugs had.

I like how the front axle is in front of the grill on this one.

Rat rod sounds cool. Maybe try to keep the wheelbase shorter to keep the miniature proportions, but go really wide still.

So cool! Needs a MINI grille or at least one that looks like MINI.
