Found thread on "OBD Not Ready" but that does not seem to be problem. Car driven regularly, no maintenance in past 8 months except oil change. Battery has not been disconnected and when I plug in scanner it communicates fine...no codes. What's the problem?

I assume you are going in for your annual vehicle inspection? If the DMV is failing your inspection, didn’t they tell you why?

 

Well in NJ it's every two years.

Vehicle Inspection Report:
Bulb check: Pass
Check Engine light On: Pass
OBD Connector: Pass
OBD Communications : Fail

 

I have noticed with mine that I can’t get it to read when I press the start button w/o the clutch in. I have to start the car first, then turn it off then start w/o clutch and boom she works. I’m in Ohio, we don’t test here, but that is what I have to do to read or clear a code.
