R56 Mini FRM Module Recall
Did you already check the 4 FRM fuses (F4, F8, F52, F53)? Always check the simple solutions first.
Woof.
I haven't used them (...yet) but The ECU Pro is saying $250 for diagnosis and repair or $499 for a refurbished, programmed replacement if it can't be repaired. You ship to them and they eat the return shipping. Still more than I'm particularly comfortable with, but hey it's not like I bought an R56 because I was super attached to having money...
eBay seems to be anywhere between $150 and $1500 for my FRM (#61356827073) all without programming and probably taken from salvage/junkyard donors around the world. ECS has it new for $550 or refurbished for $400, both without programming.
Try RealOEM with the last 7 of your VIN to find your specific FRM and what other part numbers might apply to the same component, and maybe you can find it for less than what you were quoted (I found mine under "Vehicle electrical system" --> "Control units, modules, sensors" --> "Control unit, footwell module")

My FRM has gone into full fail mode, lights are always on, no interior lighting, no blinkers, high beams or reverse lights, and no window control [no open/close lowering either].
Have to lower the rear windows to pull the glass under the top, would be stuck if it weren't a Cabrio.
Going to give ECU Pro a shot, at nearly $300 less than ordering a FRM & having it programmed locally, seems the way to go. Talked to one of their guys to make sure they'd be able to read my FRM & he sounded like it wouldn't be a problem.
An unforeseen impact of the FRM failure.
I pulled & shipped my FRM to ECU Pro yesterday.
Drove home & back to work this morning, and realized when I got to work, that I have no lights, at all. With the failed FRM installed, the headlights & taillights default to on.
With the FRM pulled, no head/tail lights, and worse, no brake lights
. So, I made the 20 mile drive home & back to work today, not realizing that I was lucky to not get rear ended.
Fortunately, we have a few company cars at the office, so the R57 is parked in the warehouse & I have a nice F150 to drive while I wait on the new FRM to get back to me.
Fingers crossed, their plug-and-play statement holds true & I'm back in a functional [minus the stereo] car again.

ECU Pro just emailed me & my new FRM should be en route.
Fingers crossed there's no upstream issues, and it's a plug & play fix
Had the car nearly a year & have yet to have the top down [nearly too hot in Houston for it now]. More interested to see if my rear window fix works well when folding the top. Going from rigid glass to flexible vinyl will be an interesting test the first couple times.

Got my FRM back from ECUPro. The sent me the replacement, and sent back my water damaged, failed FRM.
Just installed the replacement, and everything seems to be working again. Bonus, the dome light now works, and I didn't even know there were lights in the bottom of the door panels!
No lane change blinker, only get 1 blink, but that was something that came & went before, so maybe it'll get back to normal, too.
Need to pull codes & make sure the FRM code is gone, or clear it and make sure it doesn't return.
Now to give it a few days & make sure all is good, then I can start thinking about the amp replacement so I'll have a functional stereo.
I'll miss the 2022 F150 I've been driving, makes me miss having a truck, just a bit. The effortless torque from the TTV6 is quite nice, and a 1700rpm cruise at 75mph isn't bad either. The knobby all-terrain tires on it, though. Nearly as noisy as the R57 at highway speed
Update: Drove home & so far so good. Auto-lock & lane change triple blink seem to be the only [FRM related] things not working at the moment.
And the TPMS light is on, but I think I may just have a dead sensor.

4 days with the new FRM. All still going smoothly. Might try putting the top down for the first time in the almost 1 year since I've had the car.
Will give me a chance to see how my vinyl rear window performs with folding the top.
Definitely can recommend ECUPro for FRM replacement. Quick turnaround & ended up cheaper than ordering a blank FRM & having it programmed locally. Just know that once the FRM is disconnected, you have no lights on the car, at all, interior & exterior.
