Xenon to LED headlight?

2009 Base with factory Xenon projectors.

One light is starting to flicker and is bluish (sign of xenon leak, I've read) after 142,000 miles.

The Xenons are great, but I'd like to explore the option of using an LED. There are lots of considerations. The videos from this guy are GREAT!

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/?ta...BV?projector=1

Is there a magic Plug and Play LED that will keep my same light pattern and not trigger the warning light? Does anyone have any advice based upon knowledge and experience and not guesswork?

Thanks!!

So I will chime in on this since I’m the newbie that LED’d every light and has had some issues. If you have the Xenon Lights I would recommend staying with those and just get new bulbs. I’m sure you can go to LED but your going to have flickering issues but you can cure that by coding the lights at start but you will need a coder for that. Personally I had Halogen Lights and went to LED Bulbs that would not stop flicking. After a week I went to the OEM Retrofit Xenon and I’m so happy with the lighting. I’m sure once you replace the bulbs on yours you will see a big difference in brightness. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Thanks jps.

I agree with you and will go with the Xenons. There may be a straightforward LED upgrade solution out there, but I haven't found it.

The link that you posted was just so so for me and they didn't even offer an LED upgrade for the Xenon on the If you want to learn way too much aboyut LED headlights for a super knowledge source: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/?ta...BV?projector=1

There are upgrades from halogen to LED everywhere, but not so much Xenon to LED and from everything that I've read, you can get worse lighting going to LED from Xenon if you don't get the right setup.

The Xenons have been great and 11 years is a good life expectancy.

The reason you do not find xenon to led modification is because it is a downgrade.

i too have halogens and am looking to have pure white Xenon headlights. So what is this OEM Retrofit Kit you speak of and where did you get it from (the dealer)?
Also what have you done with your fog lights, are they Xenon too?

Hi K Clark. Yes, there’s a retrofit kit for our cars from Mini. It’s a excellent alternative to the Halogen Headlamps....

ECS Tuning is an excellent resource for parts with excellent pricing! Another one is OutMotoring, excellent products and large selection of oem parts! Enjoy!
