Manual transmission, transmission control module code

Hello, I had my car on a Manic stage 2 tune, and then had it reflashed to RPM. This caused some wonky issues so I reflashed it to factory and had the RPM tune redone. I am still experiencing code U1001 code, however the car is a manual. The car is a 2011 JCW 6 speed. The car was tuned on the OEM ECU. Not sure what would be causing this code on a manual and have not hardly seen any posts on this code. Anyone seen this before and know anything I can try? Cruise control also does not work, but I assume the ECU is blocking that due to the code. I have cleared the code and it comes back after a couple miles. The car was not driven enough as I was on a time crunch to ship the ECU out after having it flashed and the dealer refused to clear it as they hadn't done any work to remedy that code and wanted $120 diagnostic charge to pull the code and look at it after flashing it back to factory.

Even though the car has never been an AT? It started life as a MT, never had the issues going stock to Manic?

The issue could've been going from manic to rpm. I am not sure how the tuning values or data was entered, but it might be accidentally tuned as an AT ecu. either way, the only way I know of is using ToolSet32 because I did have an issue a while back while plugging my manual ECU to an AT mini for testing lol...after clearing it that way, it never came back.

Toolset32 software is cheap and can be used anytime along with ISTAD, WinFkp, INPA, and NCS Expert. With those, you'd need the K+Dcan usb cable.

If you are near Philly, I could do it for you.

I am in Indiana, so a bit of a drive. Are there any directions for Toolset32? I have a local guy that does specialty BMW work and can reset batteries and CANbus things as well as Carly coding, curious if he can do it.

Just asked him, waiting for a response. If he does not have it, are there instructions on Toolset32? Not seeing much in the form of how to, but seems like a dangerous tool in the wrong hands

So if this is the N14 engine, then you load up MEV172_N then you look for the varient clear (in german) and double click...just like in the picture in the post i referenced.

It is, thank you! Are all of the cables fairly reliable? I know the older style OBD to Serial were hit or miss, never messed with a USB one.

Thanks so much! I assume that the cruise control is directly linked?

Agreed, ordered a cable in case he can't do it. Had 23 minutes for Sunday delivery.

Quick update, I was able to get this cleared and my cruise control now functioning as I figured it would. Clearing the variants worked like a charm, so thank you for this!
