R56 2007 MCS R56 Chilli Pepper with Stipes
2007 MCS R56 Chilli Pepper with Stipes
Well...I've got two Gen 1 Mini's (R50 and R53) and found what appears to be a great deal on a 2007 MCS R56 with 78K. I've already been through the intro forums of what to look for with a Gen 2 and see some more purchases in the near future.
It was his daughter's car (teenager). He said she had hit a small dog that damaged the radiator and condenser. Which were both replaced. He had the turbo replaced at the same time although the turbo was not bad but was making a whining noise. He gave me the used turbo so I've got a new turbo installed along with new coil's and plugs.
He told me it started overheating a few weeks after the radiator/condenser were changed but they couldn't figure out what was causing it. His mechanic said it might be a blown head gasket but they didn't check. He decided he wanted a more reliable car for his daughter for her first year of college.
I ran it for about 20 minutes in the shade but with the AC running full blast and it didn't even threaten to over heat.
I checked to make sure it didn't have air in the lines...
I'm going to replace the thermostat housing and cross over tube, flush the system, and then pressure test the system.
Already on order: Thermostat housing and cross over tube.
Oil filter
Air filter
Cabin filter
Soon to order: Valve cover...the current valve cover looks almost identical to the example images of what to look for in the forums.
Serpentine belt tool. Cannot believe I need a third belt tool.
I've got a catch can I bought for my R53 a few years ago I never installed...will plan on installing it on this one. Just got to find what I did with it.
The car is very clean on the inside. Only has one fob/emergency key so will need at least one other because I have a tendency to misplace them when I need them.
The sun roof doesn't want to open so will have to look into that.
The tail gate manual opener (rubber over button and the button) is broken but it will open with the fob.
That about sums up everything I found when I looked it over after I took it off the trailer.
Looking forward to getting it on the road.
