Footwell Module Recall + Stage 1

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been answered already, could not find it through search.

Just trying to verify what the dealership has said to me (they have been wrong on some simple things before). They are saying if I want to replace the footwell module from the recall, it will 100% require a system update which will kill my stage 1 tune "No way around it" they say.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Would hate to lose my stage one...

The letter I got in the mail said it wasn't a recall, that it was an extended warranty. Did yours say it was a recall?

Mine says recall.. See attached.

Wish Mini Canada honored the fuel pump recall instead of this... Anyways, does anyone have any knowledge on my original question?

Wow, mine only says they extended the warranty on it again out to 156k miles iirc. I didn’t know they had to do a whole system update for that, but if they do, I guess they do. Most tuners offer at least one reflash when you buy your tune, for exactly this kind of reason. Even if they do update the system, just have your tuner flash the tune back on it afterwards.

Ill check with the person who flashed my Mini, but I am not hopeful that it would be a free reflash.

It’s definitely worth checking with them. I would hope they would reflash it for you at no charge. Especially if you haven’t had to have them do it before. I have seen a few circumstances where the dealership updated the ECU or whatever, and the tune was gone, but it’s pretty simple to flash it again. It seems like it’s a fairly common occurrence. So much so, that most reputable tuners offer at least one free reflash, sometimes even a couple times. Unless it’s a custom dyno tune.... and even if it is, one of you should still have the file. My take is, if they won’t do it without you buying the tune all over again, don’t waste anymore money with them! That’s a d!$k move and bad customer service. In that case, get in touch with Mariokart and he’ll square you away. He will reflash for something like that with his customers and we are all happy with the tune itself, and his customer service is awesome. Hopefully the person who did yours will just do it for you. I know that it’s not exactly cheap to buy another tune...but I also know that after having one on the car, you’re probably not going to be satisfied driving it without one!
Good luck with it. Keep posting to let us know what they say and how it all turns out. I’m following this with interest.
