This is the stock DME of the manual mini. I used it on the automatic for trouble shooting. That one is fixed but this one isnt anymore lol.

ISTAP programmed and coded the DME. The CAS is still the original with the Manual trans. I didn't do anything to it or the FRM.

Open ISTA. Select "Identification without diagnostic". Navigate to this screen, click on the DME then click "Call up ECU functions" at the bottom.

What is your Program version?

I am trying to reset DME adaptation through ISTA+, but voltage measure on the right upper corner has no value, I’m assuming ISTA won’t process the adaptation even though it says successfully done. I read the voltage can only be shown by using ICOM, K-CAN cable won’t work. Is that true?

I guess the voltage affects it. I also used the voltage tool thought can trick the system, but it doesn’t work, still show no voltage. Need to deep dive more on this.

Easiest solution is reinstalling original DME, install ISTA, run diagnostic, follow the resulting action plan that will clear errors and update coding. After that clear adaptations to re-initialize DME. During re-initialization the DME will note the EGS is no longer there and know its a manual. It should be fine after that. I've attached a picture of where you need to get in ISTA to clear the adaptations.

Nodevoltage tool worked successfully to show the voltage for T15 & T30. I cleared all error codes (They came back up again except 1 of the error code from radio is gone), then I followed the steps from your pic. delete adaptation --> reset adaptation --> removed key & uncheck T15 from NodeEdiabasVoltageControl.exe for instruction to turn off terminal 15 & terminal R --> wait for 15 sec and turned ignition to acc and check the terminal 15 in the .exe --> wait for 10 sec. then continue to follow the remaining steps. There is nothing changed in DME, still showing AUTO understand transmission.

I use ISTA+, found the good thread: https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthre...d=21543&page=1 The instruction from the voltage tool is basically the same as from the thread, but reading through it made me realized I put obd.dll in the wrong folder, now both voltages are showing. but unfortunately it still no change after reset the DME adaptation.

I could be wrong, but i dont think resetting will fix the issue as it did not. I ordered an ECU and tomorrow I'll pick another one as a spare to try it. I'll keep you posted.

which ECU did you order? DME? and what is your plan to change the parameters in the new ECU? I used the manual ECU and change the VIN, it cannot start the car, and Tigger said there is a table in DME has to pair with the CAS. If ISTA+ won't work, I am thinking of the replace the DME, CAS, cluster and key from the manual car, and update the VIN to match all ECUs.

Update: I replaced DME, CAS, and key from the manual R55. DME updated vin in Winkfp to match AT car, but CAS failed to update VIN. Car can start, DSC, ABS lights on, checked error code in OBD tool, no missing EGS any more.
- In ECS expert, VIN still shows MT R55. --> Found out later NCS read the VIN From CAS, at least in my case.
- In ISTA+, 1st time log on, it shows MT R55 VIN & manual trans. I disconnected the car and searched error code online, then go back to log in ISTA+ again, it shows R56 VIN now but Auto trans. in the control unit tree, EGS pops up!!!!! holy cow!!! I have no clue what is going on now....

The CAS can be updated while the car is turned off

There must be something else tipping the ECU. I know the cluster stores some info and maybe the speedometer.

if you put the donor set back in MT mini, do you still see the EGS fault?

Galletto is a device used to read/write files off of the ECU like a tuning device. One of these files is called an eeprom that contains information that the CAS checks before starting the car. I'm still learning about it amd just recently started getting deeper into it.

.
Sorry I am not following the CAS can be updated while the car is turned off?

There is a manual/auto setting in KOMBI, I changed it to manual.

You mean putting back DME, CAS to the donor R55? That car is dead. I am curious about 2 things: 1) why NCS expert still show R55 VIN while I changed the R55 DME to R56 VIN. 2) How can ISTA recognize it as R56 AUTO the 2nd time, when the 1st time it reads R55 MANUAL.

Feel like R56 manual swap is much complex than E series...

That's how i have been successfully updating mine.

i suppose you removed the EGS module right?

I think the second time you powered the car, the donor set got updated with stored msgs.

what happens if you also swap the kombi, instument cluster, SPEG, and the FRM from the R55?

There was a code line in CAS that has checking for a transmission signal, could that be the issue? (Although that code line is the same on MT CAS and Auto CAS on mine!)

I disconnected the wires from EGS (above the gas pedal).

I tried again in ISTA+, now it shows R55 MANUAL again... so wired.

I have 2 error codes from DSC and R55 DME respectively
DME
- 301E: enable line, MSA activation
- 30A8: No message (terminal status, 0x130), DME receiver, CAS transmitter
DSC
- 5DE3: DSC control unit, encoding error
- DSC interface, instrument panel signal fault

Not sure what DME errors means, need to check. DSC should be cluster, I will change to R55 cluster tomorrow can see if they will be gone.

This is good, i think. This whole time the EGS was connected?..now try recoding the DSC and reset reset the values. Clear codes and see what pops back.

EGS was disconnected at the beginning. How to recode DSC? Ncs cannot read it. ISTA can only reset sensors.

Just run through the jobs one at a time. Then turn off, turn on, reset and calibrate.
