Help identifying a part

So I am resealing the oil pan on a 2012 Mini S and I discover this in the bottom as I emptied the remaining oil. Can anyone elucidate what it is and where it may have come from? The outside is aluminum but the pressed in piece is steel. Looks like a plug of sorts but can't seem to locate its origin.
THX

I have determined that it is a coolant plug that is located in the head....(that explains the oil water mix lol!)
