Engine rebuild question

hi i’m new here. I have a R56 Cooper 07 with n12b16a engine. Something went in my engine and destroyed two pistons and 8 valves. I am now looking to score used pistons.

My question to you guys is if i can use N16b16a pistons? I have found valves and valve stem seals by now. So if i could use these pistons my engine would be almost complete. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

According to Realoem.com, the S pistons have a different part number than the non-S.

The n16b16a is the newer my version of the N12b16a iirc. Neither has Turbo. Heads are supposed to be the same for one.

N12 and N16 are the same. I also think the N18 pistons are the same but perhaps made of different material since they are cooled by oil jets.

Ok that's great. Can't wait to get my Cooper up and running. These pistons will be shipped this way from across the globe. That why i needed to make sure they fit. The N12b14 piston do differ i guess?

Thanks for helping out!
