Replacing turbo ... upgrades at the same time? (longevity)

Hi all.
I am going to have Madness Auto Works (Thanks, Ray!) replace my turbo with a new stock Borg, Detroit Tuned oil lines, oil filter housing gaskets, and oil cooler gaskets. (the oil line just gave out and oil pumped out, the other gaskets are weeping)

Does it make sense to have an "upgraded" diverter valve installed or is it unnecessary? The new turbo should have one that should last at least 60K miles, right? Someone mentioned that something like a Forge DV would hold boost "better"?

I do want to get the Madness MaxPower piggyback ECU. Nothing crazy...just want a little "extra" from time to time as this is my daily driver.

It's a 2010 MCS with just under 78K miles. I need these to last about another 60K miles (3-ish years)

Thanks!

I installed a replacement DV (from GoFastBits) because mine was already done when I bought the car. The factory DV has rubber/plastic diaphragm and internals, the GFB version is all-metal construction, and it has a spring that prevents instant blow-off, allowing it to retain some boost, to make it a bit more responsive on the twisty bits.

I went that route to avoid repeat issues with the rotted-out DV internals from the original, but to be honest, if you're getting a new one with your new turbo anyway, you'll save a few $$ until you need to replace it. Replacement is a breeze, it was the first mechanical thing I did on any new-era mini, and it took me about 20 minutes. The cost wasn't prohibitive either, about $130.

Just an FYI: if you're looking for that blow-off sound that let's everyone know you have a real, functioning turbo, the GFB part isn't it.

Thanks for the info. Although I'd like the noise...needs to be kept as a recirc.
I'll probably do an intake for the noise...I like the sucking sounds and then the pshhh from there.

Why do you need to keep as recirc? I love the sound of my Forge atmospheric blow-off.
Fast and Furious, ya know?

Yes the Forge valve will hold more and react faster so it's a good upgrade.

As for tuning don't bother with the piggy back. A real tune will net much more power. But more so better throttle response, torque and drivability than any piggyback for similar money.
