I am looking at purchasing a 2013 Mini Cooper (automatic) with only 4,500 miles and in excellent condition (1 car owner). I have the service records from Mini and the car appears to be great shape. The price will is $12,400 OTD. Unfortunately, the Mini warranty expired the past October (2017).
Are there any general issues that I could be aware of for this model year? It appears the car has had 2 oil changes and the break fluid replaced. Since it hasn't been driven a lot in the past 4 years, are there any other fluids and or parts that I should consider replacing or checking?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.
Unless the price is a steal, I'd aim for something with closer to 30k miles. The unseen danger with ultra low miles is almost all potential flaws just haven't been stressed enough yet to be a problem. I far prefer to have something where, if anything was going to break early, it already did under warranty. If nothing else, it is probably due for new tires unless it was stored carefully (ie tires in cradles or off the car, both temperature controlled to at least a minor degree).
I ended up purchasing the car Thursday after having it checked out at a local Mini dealer in NJ. The car was in MINT condition --- I really couldn't believe it. Apparently the previous owners had multiple cars and rarely used it. I took the Mini to same dealer where the owner had purchased and serviced. The car only needed to have the battery replaced, and fluid I ended paying $12399. I'm super excited and glad to be back in a Mini.
