Hello Mini owners,

Silly question time. I have a used 2013 Justa Mini 3 door with the N16 engine. I have about 47K on the odometer. I have been looking for instructions/advice on changing the plugs and coil packs. Everywhere I search I get great instructions on the older N14 engine layout (coil packs accessible on top of valve cover). Do I need to remove the plastic valve cover to access the coil packs and plugs? I have the Bentley manual but it doe snot show any information on accessing the plugs on the N16. Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be? Anyone have a picture or diagram?

Yep. You are overthinking it. Just remove the little plastic cover on top of the valve cover, and the rest of the job is just like the N14. The Bentley manual should walk you right through it.

The spark plug you need is NGK #PLZKBR7B8DG.

You'll need a 14mm, 12-point thin-walled socket. You can order it online at Amazon for about $10, or they have them at Lowe's.

Tightening torque is 23 Nm, +/- 3 Nm.
