R56 Dribbling Windshield Washers
Dribbling Windshield Washers
My R56 has recently developed a problem with the windshield washer system. When activated, a little spurt of water comes out of the nozzles, but it dries up quickly. What I've looked at:
1) I can hear the pump, so guess it is still working.
2) I've disconnected the feed line under the hood, where it connects to the three way valve, and blown into it: there is no obstruction as the water bubbles out of the windshield fluid reservoir.
3) I've checked connections and integrity of the tubing up to the point it disappears/dives under behind the headlight cluster, so I can't see the pump, or the tubing connection to it.
4) I've looked under the car after operating the pump for a while - there is no evidence of water/drips etc.
Any ideas on this? How easy is the washer fluid pump to access?

Probably need new pump. Don't know exactly but it should be near the fluid tank.
My espresso machine had the same issue the other day. Repair guy said they usually just fail, but mine went into low pressure mode.

A little dribble out the end might indicate a need for a shot penicillin or so I hear. Hehe. But seriously also try cleaning the nozzles themselves with a fine piece of wire. I seen them get plugged from wax build up or trash that gets through the system.
