Sun Roof issue

Hi everyone;

I have been having an issue with my sunroof in my R56 2007 Cooper S. When I start the car, I want to open the sunroof or just tilt; it will act like is going to do something and will move about 3mm and then nothing, once 5 minutes pass, the sunroof will go up and down. After a drive for about 10 minutes it opens but not all the time.

I noticed that If I push to help it, it solves the issue....but I'm looking the factor...is it the motor or a relay issue??

Where are you located? This issue used to come up pretty frequently with cars in hot climates where the sunroof was absorbing a lot of heat and the seals/glass would get stuck until the car was moving and cooled down a bit. Could also just be the motor starting to go.

South Texas, but seems to me that it is the motor

could be that the original lube has turned to glue ...

open the roof and check the channels ..... if the old lube resembles wax it is time for some cleaning and reapplication

carefully as drips can be a problem ... consider covering seats while you work.

WD-40 will melt dried up lubricants pretty well.
