Coolant temperature sensor housing needed

So I took my mini 2009 s to the dealer to get the hpfp replaced under warranty. They told me a check engine light was on due to the diverter valve needing to be replaced. They wanted 300 to replace it which I declined as I wanted a better one installed than OEM which I already got I did notice they left the sensor unplugged which is why I was getting a check engine.

Hours later I noticed I went on limp mode which h I found the temperature of the coolant was at -40f. When I would hit a bump it would register temperature so I figured it was a lose cable. I now realized they broke the cable that goes to it, I tried rigging it and while it registers correctly most of the time it still jumps in temperature when I hit a bump.

I figure they will not take responsibility for the issue therefore I am going to replace it myself. Where can I get the wire that goes to that sensor?

You might need a complete harness, depending on what's broken. I'd try to secure it somehow, temporarily, 'til you replace the broken part.

Take a look at the RealOEM illustrated Parts List --- http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select There might be harness repair parts available.

The harness is completely broken, I added some electrical tape and a tie wrap which makes it read ok however it still not right as bumps cause it to jump low in temperature.

I think I am going to have to completely replace that part. I was hoping I could get only the head plug and not the entire harness as I can connect the wires.

Even if I know the part number I might be able to find it. I looked at your realoem link and cannot find the harness. I will continue playing with that site to see if I can pin point where the harness is.

If anyone else knows by any chance I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Well I took this back to the dealer and told them about it, thankfully they fixed it without any cost.

They didn't replace entire harness just rigged it to where it works now.
