operating LED fog lights

We bought a 2013 JCW today. It has the LED fog lights in front. I read the owner's manual but was left with a question.

These fog lights have a bright LED ring of small lights around each light. The ring of LEDs is on when the car is on and the head light switch in the 0/off position.

With headlights in the 1 or parking light position, the ring switches to what my wife calls eye brows - just the top half of the ring comes on. Same for in position 2, which is head lights on.

If headlights are in position 1 or 2, then the center console fog light switch turns on/off the middle bright fog light.

This car also has the rally lights - with a dash mounted switch to the left of the steering wheel. They seem to work as expected and don't seem to be related to the LED fog lights.

My question is, how can I turn the LED ring of lights around the fog lights off completely? Shouldn't there be an off switch for that?

You cannot, it is programmed into the computer to behave just as you have it.

The full outer ring is the daytime running lights, they are designed to be on whenever the light switch is in the "o" position.

I believe the eyebrows are your parking lights, aka city lights. There may be an adjustment to turn them off.....not sure.

Check out this video-

if you have Nav it's different....

For 2013 model year, your LED lights were a retrofit kit installed by the previous owner (not installed at the factory), and the Owner's Manual will not be completely accurate. Your lights are operating as they were designed and you will have to modify the wiring if you want them to work differently.

+1^ If I remeber right it was the 2015 R57/R58/R59 that was the first R car other than the R60 / R61 that could have an LED Halo fog light option standard(non retrofit kit). Other than that it was the retrofit kit.
