Was the PVC vent pipe redesigned?

I took the intake elbow off to clean the throttle body and broke the PVC vent pipe connector. I was able to cobble it back together. The new one has a different connector. I'm guessing it was redesigned at some point. Do I need to get a new intake elbow too? Sorry for the crappy pick. The new is on the top, old bottom. Thanks for any suggestions.

Looks to me like the old version shows two parts --- hose and union. You should be able to disconnect the union from the old hose and reconnect it to the new hose, then re-assemble.

Would you happen to know the part number for the old union? That's the part that I broke on the hose. Thanks.

oldbrokenwind, please disregard the part number question. I see what you're saying. I didn't think that the hard plastic that connects the hose to the intake elbow would be in 2 pieces. Thanks.

A really great tool for the Mini DIY'r is the RealOEM illustrated parts list --- http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select All you need is the last few characters of your VIN, or you could check off the appropriate check-boxes to select your vehicle. Some stuff is easier to find than others, but almost everything will be shown, complete with part number, qty, and somebody's price.

My '07 MCS has a different PCV configuration, so I can't comment on what looks like a "union". Maybe you bought the wrong hose?

Thanks for the link oldbrokenwind. The connector was in two pieces, so I've got it back together.

The solid hose PCV line from pass side cannot be changed to a soft hose....I researched and some dude has this on you tube that a vacuum hose soft can be used in place of the hard line and he is wrong...Grrr
Last night I had a battle with this and I installed a soft hose and at Idle the soft hose compresses and oil will come out asap....So OCC set up or stock hard line should only be used on the psss side PCV Inline valve cover...prt# 11-157-605-186...FYi..
