I have a 2007 Mini with 113k miles. It is the S manual.

two days ago I was driving to work and noticed when going out of first t would make a squel sound. Kind of like the chewbacca or a chair being drug. It would last a couple seconds. It would also do it in 3rd sometimes. I have about 30 minute drive to work. So i got to work, no lights came on, no smells. So when i left work it did the same thing.

As i got closer to home it got worse. It would actually make the noise while i was already in gear and if i accelerated too hard. It would do it in 1st, 3rd and 5th that i noticed. It seemed if i hit over 3k rpms to fast it would make that sound.

Now soon as I slowed down to pull in the drive, I pushed on the clutch and it had almost no resistance and then i smelled burnt brake fluid. I pulled in drive and shut off. No engine lights ever came off. I checked engine and could find no obvious leaks the slave and master cylinder both appeared dry and the brake reservoir was full.

Now yesterday I went out to the mini and started it. In the driveway, I was able to put it in every gear no grinding, etc. I could still take off in first and reverse in that brief time i did not notice any sounds. The clutch still has very little resistance and a short release maybe 6 inches.

Help!, Any advice on what happened?? Thanks!!!
