I found a better/cheaper way of hooking up a boost gauge.
I installed the gauge on the dash and needed to find a source of boost pressure. I did a search and noticed everyone was using the boost adapter that fits between the pressure tube and the electronic boost sensor.
They seem to work well but there had to be a cheaper way.
I did some digging and found a boost tap fitting on ebay for $13.
It looked simple enough, and I didn't want to wait for shipping so I made my own. I simply got a nut/bolt and drilled a hole through the center. I then ground the threads off the end to allow the hose to attach.
Installation was very easy. I decided to put it just behind where the original boost sensor is. I loosened the clamp on the rubber hose and pulled it out of the way. I then drilled a hole and fed the adapter through the hole from the inside then put on a nut and washer. I then reinstalled the rubber hose and attached the gauge tube.
It works perfectly, cost basically nothing, and took only minutes to install.
