Timing chain replacement interval. (Justa)

Is there one? I don't see it in the manual anywhere. R56 Justa Model.

There is no interval listed for a timing chain replacement. The Justa engines don't seem to suffer the timing chain issues as the MCS does. I'm sure some folks have had to change out a Justa timing chain, but it isn't many.
Ours is at 74,000 & 8 years, all is well. Changing the oil every 5,000 miles hasn't hurt ours.

We have done quite a few timing cassettes on the N12 cars, but they are nowhere near the level of N14s we see. A lot of it comes down to proper oil service, and keeping up on the oil level.

I have been told the same thing by a tech I trust. He says the ones he has changed were due to not changing or checking ones oil. Thanks for posting.

But what does that mean exactly? Most times the tech had to change a broken timing chain/cassette he happen to notice the oil was really low? Or the service records for all problem cars indicated the owner didn't change oil regularly? I had a MINI stealership tell me the same thing and it sounded like a typical thing they would say to cover their ***.

It's good to hear someone else saying poor oil maintenance is one of the big reasons for the failure.

Let's be honest the typical driver just puts gas in the car and drives a car until it won't drive anymore. Sometimes going months without checking oil so I guess I'm not really surprised.

We note on every customer invoice when they are low on oil, so it's easy for us to recall how many times as well as how low the oil was each visit.

You can also tell how often and with what quality oil someone is changing their oil just by looking at the valve train. Neglected engines have a buildup of sludge and varnish on everything up top, whereas cared for engines have a golden color to the top end with no sludgy buildup.
