a GEN2 question ... I think

I answer a lot of questions (try to) for GEN1 and Gen2 folks but this one has me generationally confused

CAR: a 15 roadster aka R59 ... it is an S (not JCW), 100% stock (just got it)

does the sport button introduce 'pop and burble' ?

I'm embarrassed to even ask . . .

Yes, it will pop and bag with hard driving off the bat ( non sport button ). When you hit the sport button it will pop and bang much more, mostly under mild driving. But under very hard driving ( with sport) it will pop and bang all day long. On the older N14 it would really only do it under the sport mode and hard driving.

Hmm ECSTuning that's interesting, I didn't think the N18 engine or N14 JCW engines had the pops unless in sport mode. I usually drive my JCW in non-sport and it never pops/burbles even under hard acceleration e.g. onto the highway. But as soon as I hit the sport mode button the pops are there if you let off the gas around 2k or higher revs, mild or hard driving.

Its does I have tracked them both, full throttle and let off after a couple warm up laps. It will do it in non sport but you have to run them really hard and after the ~15min warm up. I can get them both to do it. Throttle hard then let off the gas right quick in a quick shift downdown.... then pop an bang. Do the same thing with the sport button on and the pops and bangs x 10.
