MCS Drinking Engine Oil!!

I am using a litre of oil per tank of gas!

I purchased a 2007 MCS recently with 190,000km (118,000 miles) & a bad exhaust valve on #1 cylinder. I replaced the bad exhaust valve and had the HPFP replaced by the dealer under the extended warranty. The car runs great, has lots of pep but uses a lot of oil.
I have read on this forum and elsewhere that high oil consumption in these cars is usually caused by the crankcase ventilation system built into the valve cover. From what I understand it is a sealed unit and not serviceable.

Has anyone had success by cleaning or flushing the internals of the valve cover to remove gunk or dirt that may be preventing proper operation of the crankcase ventilation system?

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

I believe that there is a diaphragm that tears, so you'll need to replace the whole cover.

I had bad smoke and the dealer replaced the valve cover. The diaphragm went bad, oddly, I started with the blue smoke again.

Does your whistle if you let run at idle for a long time? say 10 mins

Is there s way to test the diaphragm in the valve cover?

You can test to see if oil is being vented out the back vent line by running a substitute line to a catch can and observing to see if oil accumulates in the can. This will tell you if it is the source of the issue.

Or if you wish, you could simply install one of these from ECS.

Once again, it will tell you if the issue is oil venting out of the PCV but it will contain the oil and perhaps buy you some time before you replace the valve cover, if that is the issue.
