What transmission do I have?

I know dumb question, but I could not find an answer.

I have a stock 2008 Cooper S with a manual 6 speed transmission. I am planning to replace the fluid in the transmission and got myself a few quarts of the Red Line MTL 75W/80 oil from Pelican Parts.

But right there on the receipt it says that this oil should not be used on the G56-55BG transmission. How can I tell what I have? The window sticker just said "6 speed manual Getrag transmission"

thanks!

Only dumb questions are like "What time is the midnight buffet?"
The G56-55BG transmission is the Getrag and one solid 'cast iron' gear box it is. Best recommendation is leave it alone unless you tend to grind gears then use only BMW/MINI fluid.
We've got just over 100K miles on the factory gear box fluid and no worries here, original clutch and TO bearing too.

glad I asked...

According to this:
http://new.minimania.com/MINI_Cooper...mission_Fluids

I have the GS6-53 BG/DG 6-SPEED (GETRAG G253). But it looks like Red Line is not recommended for it.

I was only changing it because I am at 90k miles and read it was a good idea. Guess not!

When it comes to the Getrag gear box, some old saws come to mind:
'If it works, don't fix it.'
'Just because you can doesn't mean you should.'
'Let sleeping dogs lie.'
...and I'm sure the list can be added to. Treat it kindly from the cabin and you'll get lots more miles of exceptional motoring.

I disagree, change it before it is broke. If it's broke its too late to add fluid...Ask me how I know.
