Coil melted and replacement overheats also.
re-assembly from a Valve job on a 2007 Mini Cooper S r56 (n14 engine). Car turn over and started just fine until the Coil on plug for cylinder 4 melted and blew the 15AMP ignition fuse. Replaced all 4 coils with new 12137575010 Delphi. now #4 still warms up super quick when ignition is on. Engine doesn't need to be running. it ignition is on... the coil pack starts to heat up quick. even when not connected to the spark plug. just sitting on the valve cover it starts to warm up in a few seconds.
I suspect the DME has gone Screwy. I've visually inspected all the wires back to the DME and can't find anything obvious.
Unfortunately the Bentley Book is not super in depth with the wiring for the ignition system.
more information if needed. but, i wanted to get the question posted for the community to get helping as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!

I suspect that the actual circuit on the DME board is (shorted out) fried for whatever reason, another member awhile back showed one of his circuits that supply current to the coil was toast. He send the ECU to someone to replace the burnt circuit. I'm no electronic expert but you definitely have a short somewhere!
